Making the seemingly inaccessible accessible is the leitmotif of MAC'S, which presents contemporary art and design within a magnificent UNESCO-listed site.

More than ever, we've pushed the user experience to its limits.
As with every mission, we ate, drank, and slept MAC'S for many weeks. We had to meet the teams, understand their needs, explore the spaces, and fully grasp the challenges of such a museum—one that blends the old with the new, hosts cutting-edge exhibitions, and is situated in the heart of the Borinage.
Off we went to the workshops with the museum's staff, who confirmed what we had sensed from the start: a place like this is for everyone, not just contemporary art enthusiasts. It must appeal to a broad audience, including children, tourists with no prior knowledge, and vulnerable groups.
Beyond the user experience, we felt the design had to reflect the soul of the place. We created a sober, contemporary, and neutral user interface that ensures easy access to the works without distorting them.
Thanks to Drupal, the MAC'S site is fully customizable: temporary exhibitions, permanent collections, special events—everything is covered, all within a sober and contemporary design. For a UNESCO-listed museum, offering information in multiple languages is essential. Drupal natively integrates multilingual management, allowing site content to be translated and reach an international audience. The museum also needs to manage a large volume of content—texts, images, videos, and audioguides. Drupal excels in handling complex content, enabling the creation and organization of different types of material using categories, taxonomies, or customized filters. Whether users are experts or novices, they will easily find the information they need.Drupal is designed to evolve over time. The museum's website can seamlessly incorporate new functionalities, such as an online store, virtual tours, or event booking systems, without requiring a major overhaul. Ready for a visit?
